Ok I'm looking for some serious advice. I mostly come to these communities to find out technology/computer stuff and joke around. I am reaching out to any geeks with some legal know how! Ok here comes my annoying legal story and I was wondering if anyone has any good advice and what rights are etc. I live in Boston last year great city worst DMV on the face of the earth. I got a ticket when I lived in Boston. It was a citation for an out of date registration. In order to get my car re-registered I had to pay a handful of random citations for essentially the same thing and I also had to pay numerous parking tickets that I completely over looked. This was all my fault. This citation for an out of date registration was $35 and I got it in April 2006. I went to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles and City Hall to clear all of this citations/tickets in June 2006. In December 2006 I was driving in NH weekend before I planned to get my license changed to DC where I live now, I get arrested for driving with a suspended license in New Hampshire. Of course I didn't know that my license was suspended. Since I paid everything off in June and I have stamped documents that say free and clear (as of June, that $35 dollar citation which led to my unjust arrest should have been paid for and if they didn't include it when I requested any parking/moving violation in my name be presented so I can pay them it would be THE CITY OF BOSTON'S FAULT correct?

The only problem is the DMV is giving me such a run around that even faxing them these documents that say I was free and clear in June 2006 (meaning there was nothing for me to pay) will probably not be enough because these people at the DMV are complete morons. DMVs are terrible everywhere but in Boston it's an average wait of an hour and half just to get someone on the phone. That’s pretty sweat on the cell phone bill.

Should I get a lawyer? Can I make the state pay my lawyer fee if they are found to be wrong (which they are!!!)

Can I make the mayor of Boston come down to DC and personally kiss my a$$ after the hell I have been through over a citation I did pay or attempted to pay and they neglected to include when I asked to pay ANY/ALL violations that I'm responsible for last June:mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad

Any suggestions, similar stories, or jokes would be appreciated. I'm just happy I kept all my paper work because apparently the DMV loses all the records except the ones that say you owe money.

I have no advise just sympathy if that is any consolation. If the DMV there is anything like it is in California it has way too much power. You can be acquitted of something through the court but not the DMV. They can now step in for anything from traffic violations to unpaid child support payments. They don't have attorneys in that legal sense but arbitration boards, which your lucky to attend while they decide your fate. I would say yes it's totally their fault but-
If you do get all the compensation your after would you get it on video for us all to see?
It must be one unified organization across the nation, maybe an affiliate of the postal service. Good Luck rolleyes

yeah I got F-ed. What can you? I payed the fine although i was in the right. I paid the fine and I got my license back. I got a lawyer and had him plead not guilty. I'm sure that I'll get it reduced or wiped out. One lesson never trust the government when they say you have indeed paid all of your ciatations. ALWAYS double check!
