Botched dualboot w preinstalled Vista -Help pls.

Followed instructions found online for a dualboot for machine preinstalled with Vista. Partitioned the drive, installed XP now the machine wont get past the intel splash screen. The harddrive ok as it was removed and tried in another laptop. Could this be something to do with Sata drivers and XP (not exactly sure what that is but have read it in the forum) Any help provided is greatly appreciated. :confused
