This problem began following an automatic upgrade on my computer from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (my computer was originally a Windows 7 operating system that was automatically upgraded).

On my other desk top computer. It boots on and I see the lights on the keyboard and mouse work up until it boots into the Window's start up screen. During the startup the keyboard is unresponsive. I have tried unplugging the USB keyboard and mouse into other ports. Both the mouse and keyboard work fine on my other computer. The mouse and keyboard from that computer have the same problem when I plug them into the computer that gets stuck on the Windows start up screen. This means that all of the function keys, window key, Esc, CTL keys etc are unresponsive upon startup.

I suspect that the problem with the unresponsive mouse and keyboard may be do to an issue with the mouse and keyboard drives not being compatible with Windows 11 or their configuration.

    Please help me?

    Thank you,
    Acusteve

    Hold on a sec Acusteve;

back a few years ago I had the worst problems with a comp I bought. I figured I'd just bought a lemon and was ready to take it back.
I found out the Windows 10 os was only written over (ahem'upgraded') the existing windows 7.... not a fresh install after formatting the drive.

In my case as soon as I made a fresh clean install all the problems went away.

If you get response from the keyboard and mouse when starting up then there is no problem with them or the usb ports.

First guess is it's just a bad install on top of a bad install painted on top of windows 7
If you still have the ISO for Win 11 in your hands then at least try a fresh install.
Ps it really helps if you do not choose to save files, apps , settings. Go all new all clean.

None of the bugs from win7 and win10 have a chance to migrate or hitch-hike into win 11 that way.

Okay now you know the 'if all else fails' choice.

But first try to re-install the drivers for keyboard and mouse.
They work, but win11 is acting like something got corrupted in settings.
Just manually reinstall the two in device manager and see what happens.

    ps there are other options...
you can also "undo"the win11 install and go back to 10.
you can 'reset' the system and it will reinstall win11
Same rule; go clean, no riders/baggage
If you were fortunate enough to make a restore point in the past or before updates you can roll back your system to any previous saved point.

I've said it before it hurts to think someone has to reinstall an os just because of corrupted settings.
But in your case i'd do it without hesitation.
Ya got 3 coatss of paint on the house now and it don't look good.
Come on, we gotta scrapee off the peeling paint and wash all the dirt off before we paint this.
