I always thought I was fairly smart. I could handle 99% of anything my friends or my own computer would throw at me. So, when i came here and saw the questions and the answers all you guys give, it really puts me to shame:eek:

I dont think i could answer one question, you guys are so smart!! I just want to let everyone know i think your all awesome ;)

    keep on rockin! :dood hehe

DYA: Your not stupid. Talk about being stupid, I bought my 1st comp in 2001 from Dell (which was stupid) because I was comp ignorate and thought I could learn from their tech help to operate my comp. That was a joke. I discover MG in 2004 and have learn a lot from these Geeks. The remarkable thing is that no one here talks over your head in helping you out. I joined other forms, but this is the best for help. I hope that you will stay and be a help to others. So, don't put yourself down. :)

But here's the neat part. You get to use those same answers for your friends, thus convincing them you're in fact, A GENIUS!

Stupid? nah, I told someone here once I pushed the power button and felt real lucky when it came on. I used to fix problems myself but it took me days, now I can print out instructions from here and do the repairs in a matter of hours LOL

We all have to start from somewhere. I started 25 years ago with a Tandy Model 1.
I have just switched to Broadband ADSL2+, on my XP Pro laptop, so am back learning all over again. :D It never stops.

The folks here at MG are great. :cool

Ow... that even hurt my head, of course, I am not a linux guru either...LOL.

It is kinda like a big puzzle, we all have pieces to it, some have more or bigger pieces, but it takes all of us to make it work :)

    and i swear to God, i didnt know how to turn it back off!!! seriously, i had to call tech help. the conversation went something like;

my computer's froze and i cant switch it off.

what have you tried to do to switch it off? (this is not nearly as sarkey a question as i immediately thought it was)

i've pressed the green button on the front of the computer. why? is there another way? (me, with attitude.)

the modom or the monitor or both? (and here's where he lost me!)

the big box like thing that the C D's go in with all the wires and stuff in the back.

the modom. did you hold it in?

    did i hold what in?

    the button.

    what button?

the button you said you pressed to turn it off ma'm

oh that button. i dont understand. hold it in to what?

press it and hold it there for a few seconds before you let go.

oh....yes that worked. how the hell are you supposed to know that!!

    madam everybody knows that.

since then i have become quite user freindly, but i still know nothing. the people here have always walked me through any problems in baby steps, with the upmost patience, without ever being patronizing or superior.
this is the only 'geek' site where you not only do not have to be a geek to enjoy, you dont even have to want to become one. :)
