  1. Hey guys,
Just wondering if there are any fans of broadway shows in here and what there favorites are. I Personally like rent, havent seen wicked but heard rave review on it, and well theres a ton of shows i like. Be awsome to hear of things from others. On there broadway prefs. As for the people across the pond... Broadway shows are basically our professional "Big time" shows here in the us. It is done in theaters along a street called Broadway in New York City. Wonder if they have somthing like that in the UK as well....

  7. Oh well i guess thats ok. My personal thought of that show was that it was weird. My Opinion but we just did west side story in my school and THAT WAS AWSOME! We had a great time. Just wanted to see if anyone was interested in stuff like that. What do you personally like insom?

Nothing current. The only live show I saw was Fiddler On The Roof, MANY years ago, which I loved. Not on Broadway, in Chicago when it got there.

On film, I also enjoyed Sound of Music and My Fair Lady. But I'm an old fart, times and styles change. In the 40s to the 60s, most of the best Broadway musicals made it to film, and eventually to TV, and were more a part of common culture.

[edit] To the new tech guy: Thanks for reminding me. West Side Story was good. Only on film though, not live.

  9. No problem. Atcually thats another movie i fell asleep during lol. I tried to watch it one night and was bored to tears. What is good though is RENT especially the movie as that is really close to the atcual broadway show. Funny too how my school did west side story this year and is doing guys n dolls next year. Both take place during the 50's in new york and were done in the same time too.

Hmmm...I've actually seen precious few, and only when I've made the trip to Chicago specifically to watch whatever happens to be in town. However, I work wardrobe for about 95% of the tours that come through.

A few of my favourites for music and/or story line are: Rent, The Producers, Les Miserables, Joseph (and the amazing Technicolor dreamcoat), Phantom of the Opera, Assassins, Guys and Dolls....heck, I dunno...I have a whole collection of CDs at home, but I'm not there so I can't think of any more offhand.

My biggest thing lately has been Lion King. After seven weeks, I still wasn't sick of it. Music, costumes, sets....whole thing was amazing from start to finish. If I'm really, really lucky, I'll get to see it while it's still on the first national tour before it scales back.

  11. Wow you mention a few i have not heard of but i am sure they are good. I gotta agree on lion king being awsome i have kinda seen a clip and its just that. Awsome. Rent wins the award for best music i think and the rest are just good all around. Glad to hear opinions folks.
