hi, hopefully some one can help i have been working on this for 4 days now!
my computer some how got infected (still not sure how). it was/still is infected with a self unpacking load of Trojan virus's that seems to unpacked everything when i connected to the web.
At this point i would like to thank Norton anti virus for being the biggest waste of time ever!
i have a partitioned hard drive so i formated the "system" partition. i thought that would get rid of it. it didn't, it came back with more vengeance than ever before.
i then had a messenger service (system message) telling me to go to various websites, pop ups. i found a web site that told me to go into administrative tools and change and option. this solved this problem, but seems to me to be treating the symptom rather than the cause.
i got the latest updates for Norton and re ran it. it picked up over 2000 varieties of virus's. again i thought this would be the end of it. wrong again. i reformatted the same drive (whilst leaving my personal data on the other part of the partitioned drive, i scanned this with Norton and another AV it said it was clean).
the current story is i have been round the forum scene on other sites try to solve this and subsequently i have downloaded about 6 Trojan removers and various spy ware removers. these don't seem to do anything.
now when i start windows it comes up with "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\libprm.dll" "The specified module could not be found".
then about 15 Min's after this another thing comes up from windows saying that "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services"
    the report contains this
    EventType : BEX P1 : svchost.exe P2 : 5.1.2600.2180 P3 : 41107ed6
    P4 : netapi32.dll P5 : 5.1.2600.2180 P6 : 411096ac P7 : 0000a3c0
    P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000
this then subsequently cuts my broadband connection and i have to restart my computer in order to restart the Internet.

i know there are system information finders out there. something called Hijack keeps coming up on alot of the forums. unfortunately i don't know how this works. if you guys need this to diagnose the problem then please can some one tell me how to extract this information.
thank you very much in advance.

    Alex
