broken thing here

so i am lost and defeated, not hard to believe with my limited knowledge of this sorta thing.

But here's the problem doccumented as it started.

Was getting these random spyware downloads, vbouncer/ xxxdialer, no matter how many times i tried to cancel them they kept restarting, no matter how many times i ran spybot or adaware they kept coming back, so i was going to run hijackthis and get some tech support,ended up downloading AVG by reccomendation, it wouldn't connect for an update, saying it had found a trojan attached to some file that connected me to the net... i tried to heal it, and to no avail, out of frustration i deleted it, then the fun begins.

From that point I started trying to conect, (i should mention i use aol) it wouldn't conect until the third attempt, then no buddy list, and i am unable to visit any websites. Notice of "nav cancel" appears with every attempt (aol8.0) anyway, i called tech they gave me some little keyword "webutil" which was supposed to download something to reset my settings. To no avail. In the process of all else I did a reformat on my comp, then redownloaded aol 5.0 from a disc i had floating around, and still the problem with not being able to visit any websites, though aol will now connect on the first attempt. I have a buddy list now. But it times out when i attempt to do a web util, then when i close aol, a file starts downloading, something er other .utc but before it can do anything beyond downloading an error message comes up reporting something wrong with the connection. None of my web oriented programs will run they do not detect a connection. in example AIM, yahoo messanger etc.

Ihave xp pro (not necessarily Store bought) I am downloading AOL9.0 security edition right now, via my uncles connection, but if there is anything else I can try to solve this problem, PLEASE HELP!

I am out of ideas, and unable to contact my more knowledgeable friends. it seems there is something fully corrupted or not communicating in the depths of this box.... what can i do?

okay well i downloaded aol 9.0 and it seems to have cleared up all my problems. for now. who knows, i'll probably be back.

 

Just a suggestion: you may want to post in the "Spyware" forum; there are some brilliant minds at work there that will get you squared away- good luck!
