I am going out of my mind... :confused

I am using an old PC as my 'good one' has a heat sink about to crap out
    Here are the specs: http://shrinkurl.org/backup/
    Actually has 184 mb ram

    I am needing a browser:
    needs to be FREE /small/lightweight
Not use a bunch of resources / CPU's working
NOT use :tas IE to function!

    I've tried:
    FireFox
Opera - can't TELL you how many tracking cookies flock to this browser!
    Avant/Dimension/Zabidoo/Tablane/Phaseout/Maxthon/Slepnir/GreenBrowser/K-Meleon
Attempted to install Zudul but it took too long to install so canceled it.

    Thank GAWD for CCleaner.... :-D

Am currently using Chrome - however - no auto fill on yahoo mail and Each 'tab/window' uses CPU's besides one extra for USER -
( only one person on this pc - me, LOL )
also no screen preview on tabs open without adding a plug-in
Has stalled several times netting me the SNAP! page

I LIKE the way the 'folder look or tabs' Chrome uses - hate the typical IE 2 inch header

I'm looking into Browse 3D in a bit, but thought I would toss this out here to see if anyone has an idea!

    Thanks in advance!

I'm anything but an expert but I also have an old computer.

I've tried Chrome and bootetd it the same day. Firefox (or whatever it's called) has too many bells and whistles for me so I booted that, too. I downloaded Avant a couple of days ago. It worked at first then all I got was a blank screen, so that's booted out too.

I'm going back to Crazy Browser, it small, fast, and tabbed. But you have to have IE installed, even if you don't use it.

(Waiting for the experts to scream, but I'm not advising you, just sharing my experience with an old computer.)

    Hi

Tracking cookies are not an issue in reality, so if Opera is lightweight enough for you then I would stick with it as its one of the most secure and fixed of the browsers.

Could try Safari or Velox (although Velox is not feature rich)

or add some more ram to that PC as if old the ram is likely cheap.

Check out Browser Alternatives at http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads5.html

Lots of FREE and Shareware programs there. Sizes range from 1.5 megs upwards. I use an older version of Opera (mainly) for everyday use.

    :)

    Thanks All!

I did check out Crazy Browser, but it has that 2 inch header that drives me silly.....I also have been through the entire list of browsers here on MG, many were great in their own rights, but Halo has hit it smack dab on the head....
I really NEED to get more ram in this critter and stop fussing about....

Browse 3D and PhaseOut were absolutely WILD !

Tracking cookies in my opinion, just don't need to be something extra to get rid of, someone down the road will end up creating a virus to slide in AS a cookie, if they haven't already!

I'm not sure if you've already tried it, but UltraBrowser is fairly lightweight and fast. I used it a few years ago all the time, but it has gone through some rebuilds since I used it last. The only reason I stopped using it was 'cuz I started using Firefox full time ;)

Just curious, don't know if it would work or not, but you could try getting a usb thumb drive and installing portable apps on it. Then you could run portable firefox. I don't think it uses very many resources to run but I'm not 100%.

As the flash disks mentioned, you can also use one with eBooster for ram enhancement.

I heard Opera is the safest but not sure its resource usage.
