Alright. I've been trying to live with this problem for a couple of months now but it's gotten to the point where it's driving me absolutely nuts so please if anyone has any ideas, let me know. I'll be browsing the net and all of a sudden when I click a link, the browser will freeze trying to load the page. It doesn't seem to be any link in particular, just at random. Now I wait for about a minute or 2, and when still nothing happens, I try and click back, or try exiting the browser and reloading it, but it detects no internet connection, even when I am still clearly online with AIM or a P2P program like limewire. I normally browse with Firefox, but even when I try to switch over to a different browser like IE, it still comes up with a "site cannot be found" on my homepage (google.com). The only solution is to completely restart my computer, and then everything works fine again... until I click some unlucky random link and it happens again. I have avast, sygate firewall, microsoft antispyware, spyware guard, spywareblaster, and have run ad-aware and spybot searches and they come up clear. I'm lost with this one guys. Please lend me a hand!

A friend had a problems the other day that he describes much like the problem you have. He removed p2p program and advised that everything was then working properly. if you could remove p2p, at least temporarily, it may give you better insight, or atleast eliminate p2p as the cause?

Well I guess I could try that. The thing is it happens sometimes even when I don't have Limewire running, so there shouldn't really be any interference problems.

Thanks for the suggestion. I uninstalled my Limewire 4.9, and then reinstalled the new version (4.10). Everything seems to be working just fine so far. Weird, but hey as long as it's fixed I'm not complaining. I'll let you know if I encounter the problem again.
