OK here is the scoop. I believe I have tried everything you guys have mentioned on here but let me know if I am missing something. Windows 2000 PC. Ran Adaware latest version and latest update. It finds these 3 problems.

Possible Browser Hijack attempt RegData Data Miner HKEY_CURRENT_USER:Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main"Start Page" ("res://vlmjv.dll/index.html#96676") Possible browser hijack attempt

Possible Browser Hijack attempt RegData Data Miner HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main"Start Page" ("res://vlmjv.dll/index.html#96676") Possible browser hijack attempt

Possible Browser Hijack attempt RegData Data Miner HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main"Default_Page_URL" ("res://vlmjv.dll/index.html#96676") Possible browser hijack attempt

Tell it to fix the problem it does. Go out to the internet and I get popups. Check my home page and it is set to res://vlmjv.dll.index.html#96676

Ran Spyware Search & Destroy says no problems.

Ran HiJack This and fixed the keys related to vlmjv, here is the bad log

    Andy,

Please try to use my old step by step procedure. Find it here:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35917

Read thru it first and make sure you understand everything and follow steps exactly skipping nothing. Don't forget as stated in that thread, it is written as a generic guide. Your file names will be different and you have to locate them from you HijackThis log. If you need help doing that let me know. Since these files can constantly change names upon reboots, I cannot say what yours will be right now. According to your last log:

Your file for step 5 was: C:\WINNT\aizbc.dll
    Your line for step 7 was: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A97DD52C-74FA-73B9-A3C4-75686E093679} - C:\WINNT\system32\crlv32.dll
    Your line for step 8 was: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ippd.exe] C:\WINNT\ippd.exe
Your lines for step 12 were:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINNT\aizbc.dll/sp.html#96676
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://aizbc.dll/index.html#96676

An unrelate issue, you should fix is this WindUpdates stuff. Look in Add/Remove programs for an uninstall and uninstall.

Ok I am on step 5 where I find the file and open it. I erase everything and when I go to save the blank document it tells me access is denied. I am so frustrated and about to format and reload.

Are you logged in with Administrator priviledges? If yes, then try right click on that file from Windows Explorer and select Properties . Uncheck the Read Only attribute check box if checked and try to edit the file now.

If that does not work, again from the Properties windows select the Security tab and set the permissions so you are allowed full control (for everyone). Then try to delete it again.

By the way the filenames probably have changed again if you have rebooted since last time.

 And as a matter of better judgement...I highly recommend downloading and using "Firefox" I,ve used it for well over a year as my browser and have had "0"...thats "Zero" problems. Even most of the popups went away...my theory is that all the "A" Wholes out there who think its fun to screw with IE is because Microsoft is the big boys on the block and create a never ending cycle of annoyance and aggrivation for the rest of us out here...

    ........for what its worth......."OUT"!!!
