    Hi, I have a problem with popups (all have ?3 at the end of the URL)
    I am using windows server 2003 without sp2 (Ive tried to install sp2 without success).

    I have followed the instructions in the "READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide " without success.

    The drivespace on my C drive seems to be randomly decreasing, until I reboot.

    It would be great if one of you guys could help me out here.
    Many thanks
    Rob

    You have not followed the Read & Run Me Instructions correctly. A HiJackThis log was not requested. Please follow the instructions step by step and attach the missing logs requested.

    If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Note: If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    You need to re-run MalwareBytes and have it fix/quarantine everything it finds!

    Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from MWB's.

    I am only seeing some left overs....

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    o If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\windows\currentversion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks]
    "{000E92A0-D7A2-456A-AE04-EB9ABF822FE4}"=-
    "{0017ED46-E883-4899-BD2E-1B6F926757E7}"=-
    "{E8606370-4F7A-4C2F-A39C-EDCDCC177924}"=-

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{008F6150-5DF9-42C3-916E-5EE7D13D09DC}]

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{000E92A0-D7A2-456A-AE04-EB9ABF822FE4}

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0017ED46-E883-4899-BD2E-1B6F926757E7}

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combo.

    Thanks for trying to help but combofix is incompatible with my os (server 2003). Is there anything else that I could try?

    Can I safely delete the registry values manually using the registry editor?

    My bad....I saw it in your logs and forgot it wouldn't run.....yes, make a backup first!! Then you can try to manually remove them.

    Thanks very much Tim, deleting those registry values and the files in the temp folders appears to have worked.:-D

    Sweet..........If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combo-fix folder from combofix.

    4. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    5. If we had you run RenV.exe, you can delete it and the Log.txt file on your Desktop.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    9. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    10. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    11. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    12. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
