    Hi you guys have helped me before and it is greatly appreciated that you do this for the computing world!

    I'm having browser redirecting with all browsers. Have gone through your self help guide and it has just become too much to figure out.

    I have all the recommended downloaded programs and utilities.

    How do we begin here?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Please run and then attach the logs for:
    SAS
    MBAM
    RootRepeal
    ComboFIx
    C:\MGLogs.zip --> from running the C:\MGTools.exe

    Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

    Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    OK, I got home last night and the system was trashed.

    Comodo Firewall was going crazy saying syeN.exe is trying to connect to internet. I kept blocking it
    Earlier today Comodo was flagging av.exe every 10 seconds

    Meantime I had the Antivirus XP Alert virus popup going off non-stop.

    Then no .exe files would run. Could not even launch a browser and right clicking to "run as" would not work

    SO, I did a system restore by booting up in safe mode. This took almost 5 hours and the restore was successful.

    After the restore the only thing I detected so far is the browser redirect

    See scan results attached in 2 posts.

    Browser redirect seems to have stopped now after scans.

    Thanks

    You did not allow MGTools.exe to run to completion. Plus, you need to put ComboFix directly on your desktop, not here:
    Running from: e:\#software\_____________________Anti-Virus_Spyware_Malware Tools\combofix\ComboFix.exe

    Please Disable Spybot's TeaTimer --> Should have been done as per the R&R instructions!

    * Run Spybot and click Mode
    * Select Advanced Mode.
    * Then click Tools and select Resident.
    * Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer.
    * Also while this is open, in the left column now select IE Tweaks
    * and then in the right pane make sure all the Miscellaneous locks are unchecked.
    * Now quit Spybot!

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\documents and settings\Owner\Local Settings\Apps\F.lux

    Please run this: GMER - running with a random name and attach the log from GMER.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    What is "analyse.exe"?

    It is hanging up running MGTools.exe and GetLogs.bat so they will not complete running

    REGEDIT string you supplied was successful

    (FYI: F.lux is a utility that makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day)

    Analyse.exe is the renamed HJT. Are you not getting a pop up asking that you agree to the conditions of running HJT?

    I still need the log from running GMER.

    magnetman Private E-2

    I may have missed the popup regarding HJT

    See attached GMER log

    Let me know if I need to run anything again that did not complete

    That log was clean. Please, run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). ( Make sure to accept the agreement to run HJT).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    System is running very slow at boot. Had to reboot to get running normally. Desktop icons don't all show until reboot.
    Other tasks seem very slow at times. Some mouse lag at times. Slow loading programs. 60 GB free space on C:

    You may want to try disabling Comodo to see if that affects your speed. I would also suggest that you use a start up manager:
    Startup_CPL

    Please use windows explorer to find and tell me what this is.....right click and check the properties:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\7DDD~1 Apr 3 2010 "??U???"

    Please run CCLeaner and then run ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

    Make sure these are empty:
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::
    File::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\08UIXn2GC0
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Ituo8xRe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\08UIXn2GC0
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~113.>sys
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\9829780BC3.sys
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ituo8xRe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Templates\08UIXn2GC0
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Templates\Ituo8xRe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\niyefeyu

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    See new GMER log attached

    System is running OK once I get it booted. Still having that issue with system tray not filling in and icons very slow to fill out. This happens on reboot and I need to boot over again to fix.

    What antivirus program do you recommend? Free or to purchase doesn't matter.

    Any experience with this?

    Update: System is actually running pretty well.
    Boot issues are gone after GMER

    Let me know after you look at last scan.

    Do we need to reset the system restore when we are done?

    WHERE CAN I MAKE A DONATION AS THANKS FOR YOUR HELP?

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
