    Hi All,

    My son downloaded some stuff and left me with redirect malware. I use IE, Google, Chrome and Bing...all are affected. I ran everything according to the thread but it still redirects. I can usually get 3-4 searches before it kicks in.

    Thanks for your time!

    Rerun Hitman and have it delete malware remnants and Potential Unwanted Programs.

    What is this?

    C:\Windows\SysNative\pie iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.lnk

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Registry tab and locate these 6 detections:

    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKCU\[...]\Run : SwvUpdater (rundll32 "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\SwvUpdater\epzahyiz.dll",ConvertMultiSZNameToW) [-] -> FOUND
    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKUS\.DEFAULT[...]\Run : SwvUpdater (rundll32 "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\SwvUpdater\epzahyiz.dll",ConvertMultiSZNameToW) [-] -> FOUND
    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKUS\S-1-5-19[...]\Run : SwvUpdater (rundll32 "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\SwvUpdater\epzahyiz.dll",ConvertMultiSZNameToW) [-] -> FOUND
    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKUS\S-1-5-20[...]\Run : SwvUpdater (rundll32 "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\SwvUpdater\epzahyiz.dll",ConvertMultiSZNameToW) [-] -> FOUND
    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKUS\S-1-5-21-1782604400-1185407929-4153757664-1000[...]\Run : SwvUpdater (rundll32 "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\SwvUpdater\epzahyiz.dll",ConvertMultiSZNameToW) [-] -> FOUND
    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKUS\S-1-5-18[...]\Run : SwvUpdater (rundll32 "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\SwvUpdater\epzahyiz.dll",ConvertMultiSZNameToW) [-] -> FOUND

    Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

    and the same for items on the file/folder tab please...

    • [ZeroAccess][FOLDER] U : C:\Windows\syswow64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\{3a1e68ef-168c-4d39-2044-602ad3aa8275}\U --> FOUND
    • [ZeroAccess][FOLDER] L : C:\Windows\syswow64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\{3a1e68ef-168c-4d39-2044-602ad3aa8275}\L --> FOUND

    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Re run RogueKiller, just a scan and attach new log.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Thanks Kestrel.

    I have no idea what that C:\windows\SysNative\pie file is. I assume it's something my son somehow did.

    I reran Hitman but my license expired so it wouldn't delete the files. I tried to remove the license info but it still wouldn't work so I deleted the files manually. Re-reran it and deleted all of them except that here were 3 that wouldn't delete and they were all in HKU\s-1-5-21-1782604400-1185407929-4153757664-1000\software\microsoft\internet explorer\approved extensions.

    I merged that text and did receive a successful message.

    I did some searches and so far no redirects. I'll reboot and then see what happens...but I think it's fine.

    Thanks again for your time!

    Re run Hitman then, and let me see exactly what is left. :)

    Here's the Hitman log which now shows a trojan. I know I haven't even been on this computer since my last post to you. Guess I'll have to question my son.

    Re run hitman then, have it fix Malware and Potential Unwanted Programs. Then rescan again and show me a new log hopefully with Hitman detecting nothing.

    Heres is the hitmanpro log. These items wont delete. Is there another program I can usr since the hitman license is up?

    Let's do it this way.

    Now rescan with Hitman and attach a log.

    The merge was successful but Hitman still detected them.

    I think it is cleared up now. I reset all of the IE settings then I ran Adwcleaner. I then ran Hitmanpro again and it didnt detect anything. Here's the log.

    Thanks so much for your help.

    Ahh and you're ever so welcome. :)

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/Windows_Logo_key.gif and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    8. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
