I have gotten these 2 BSOD at different times in the last 2 days,
    -0x000000B4 (0x8A1D3008, 0x89F45000, 0x8A00B000, 0X00050000)
got this 2X both after a chkdsk/F reboot
-STOP: c000021a Fatal System Error f0x00000402
got this once at next bootup after reinstalling Java(FFox3.6.2 needed the newest version for some sites to load fully). The first try failed to install properly, had to un/re-install it.
    So after the installs...
I ran chkdsk because my laptop was starting very slow and responding poorly after disconnecting from a 5X switch and reconnecting to direct ethernet cable. I used the hub to share a connection with friends for an hour. When they left I removed switch and connected my laptop direct again. Surely changing a few cables couldn't do this. And then my port forwarding on uTorrent quit when I reconnected! Avira/SAS find nothing. HDD passes all tests. Didn't overheat.
What's happening? Did the Firefox(from Mozilla site, should be clean) or Java damage my startup/network files and settings when I installed them? Do I look for a regpatch or do a full malware proceedure, or what?
Thanks for any help, cause I'm out of ideas

Generally, protocol is to go through the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide, just to eliminate any inconsistent behaviour that might introduce. (This may be advisable after networking with friends. :-D)

However, if you're really interested in a diagnosis for the blue screens, you might try looking at the HOW TO: Debug Memory Dumps (Figure out what is causing a BSOD) guide.

Re: OK, the dreaded cleanup, gotta be done

Ok. thanks. I did the whole proceedure and started a new topic including ALL the logs. First time I successfully completed the entire process!
Dont really care about the BSOD as long as it goes away. Hope this works.
    Adios

Have you considered doing a system restore to before these downloads where installed?

    Re: Did that

    Hi,
I made restore points b4 doing the updates. After the post-update probs began I tried to go back but it was no improvement, maybe a little worse, so I undid it.
    Cheers

I don't know what you mean by no improvement. What exactly was happening? Did you try a point even further back?

It Froze and then shut down after 3 mins when I would try to open folders, or even opening task manager from any non desktop window. Yes, tried 3 restore points in all, going back every 2 or 3 days. Same behavior. Like it is working on too many things at once, but nothings really running, so it freezes or goes black screen then reboots. I could go back further.
