Hello guys hope someone can help me with this bsod error

Been getting random restarts since I installed new ram with old . identical ram just different versions. Thought it was bad new ram so I took it out and went back to my old ram config but the problem still exists Any way about every few hours pc reboots with bsod then back into windows. I manage to get the bsod message but it’s way above my head so I hope one of you clever chaps can help? Here is what it says

    Stop:0x0000008E (0XE0000001, 0XB8488925, 0XB1D428B8, 0X00000000)

    Watchdog.sys- addressB8488925 Base at B8488000, Datestamp 480254ab

    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete.

I remember I had a couple of issues with installing the lates nvidea drivers for my 8600gt card a couple of days ago as well don’t know if that’s got anything do with this though.
If anyone can help that would be great

    cheers:confused

here are some of my notes on 0x8e..

First thing i'd try to is reseat the memory. See if that helps at all. Then you may wish to run a Memtest86+ scan on the memory.

thanks for the reply. i did the pe386 rootkit process by going into recovery console so i'll see if that helps. i also rolled back to the previous nvidea driver for my 8600gt maybe that's got something to do with it. i'm just going to do a memtest86+ on the ram so that should take a few hours, i think i'll give it 30 passes and hope i have no errors. someone suggested it may be a hard drive problem, it may be failing, i'll wait and see first. thanks again for replying
    cheers:)

Watchdog.sys is a windows system file to monitor things about the display driver. I would suspect that you do have an issue with that

Try using driver sweeper to remove anything nvidia graphics related (make sure you don't remove your chipset drivers if it's nvidia)

get a good, correct copy of your drivers and reinstall after you run driver sweeper.

This does feel like it's the most likely cause; the nVidia drivers released this year will be unlikely to have anything new related to your 8600GT, rolling back to older, less complex drivers may fix this.

Thanks for the great advice. Rolling back to the previous driver seemed to do the trick.
The pc hasn’t randomly rebooted since and upto now no bsod. Just one question though after I’ve used driver sweeper to clean up nvidea drivers is it advisable to then install the latest driver for the 8600gt? The reason I ask is that the latest driver was the one causing the problem so should I install a clean older driver instead or will driver sweeper fix the problem connected with the latest driver ?where is the best place to download the clean driver? Because the driver causing the problem I got from the nvidea website so I take it it’s ok. I don’t know if this is connected in any way with the problem but yesterday the pc went into standby mode by itself. Could the driver problem be related? Just a thought. Anyway thanks again for all your help.
    Fantastic forum.
    Cheers. :)

I've always been a fan of getting the latest drivers from the manufacturer of the card's website. Some would disagree, and in some cases so do I. however, I've got an EVGA card. I know that EVGA tests (most of the time) the drivers before they will release the newest from nvidia. So, if you're card is from a reputable/popular manufacturer, then you might want to check their site and see what version their recommending for your card.
I'm thinking there was just some conflict on your computer regarding the drivers (old and new) that caused your problems. If it happens again, then look for an older driver.

A conflict between drivers, MSFT Updates and a non-standard setting somewhere, perhaps?

check your power saving settings to see if it went back to default (standby after X minutes)
driver sweeper could have removed any settings associated as well.

hello guys just to update on my original post. i used driver sweeper to clean all previous nvidea drivers then installed latest driver from nvidea website. this looks like the answer. as far as the new ram is concerned, i've tested with memtest86+ and found a few errors so i'm gonna rma. the standby problem was resolved when i cleaned using driversweeper so that was good news. in future before updating graphics drivers i'm gonna use driversweeper to eliminate any driver conflictions with older drivers. once again thanks to everyone for your expert advice in resolving this problem
    cheers
