BSOD nvidia

Hi all

I was hoping somebody might be able to help me as I'm almost ready to throw my computer out of the window.

My problem is I think driver related but im not total sure. It all started about a week ago, I was playing WoW -o) and i started to get a weird graphics problem I took a screeny to save a bad explaination.

I didnt think much of it at the time just updated my drivers which seemed to fix the issue. Then every so often (5 - 10 mins) the game stutters once in maybe every 20 stutters my computer blue screens and dumps the mem.

The computer restarts straight a way and runs as if nothing has happened apart from the time and date will be incorrect. I tried other games but its the same for all of them.

I've ruled out over heating CPU temp on load max temp just before the BSOD was 48 and gpu was 82 degrees c

I've tried the usual reinstal drivers and rolling back the drivers but no luck still the same stuttering and blue screening

Comp specs:

Mobo: asus p5q E
cpu: q6600 ~ 2.4
gpu: BFG GTX280 oc2 edition
RAM: 8gb DDR2 domminator ram
HDD1: samsung spinpoint f1 1TB (~200gb free)
HDD2: hitachi 320gb (~200gb free)
OS: win 7 pro 64bit
AV: nod32

This post addresses the problem.
If you are using the latest drivers roll them back as all us Nvidia users have had overheating probs which is suggested by your screen-shot.

Hi thanks for your reply, I have already tried rolling back the driver but with no luck it does't pixelate like it does in the screen shot anymore just the stuttering and blues creening

 

The GTX280 is an excellent card and although 82c is not abnormally high your problems still suggest an overheating problem.

Have you opened the case and checked it is clean, also make sure your card is seated properly and all connections are tight.

This may seem tedious but it is just a process of elimination.

This driver should work for you if it is just a driver problem.

 

Thanks again, everything seems nice and clean / dust free and all the connections are ok. I just tried installing the driver I'll give it a test see if its fixed the problem.

 

Sorry its taken a while to see if this works or not but work had to take priorty for a while

I guess its not a driver problem then as this drivers behaving pretty much the same as the latest one.

Really stumpted on this one I've had nothing but problems with this build The only thing I havnt been able to swap out or test is the cpu is there any chance the cpu could be causing this problem?

 

I doubt very much that the CPU is at fault as the Q6600 is a top line processor.

What PSU do you have?

My thoughts now go to the Mobo, the asus p5q E is a P45 chipset and could just be throttling the CPU.
I admit to being a bit sketchy with this Mobo but there are members here whose knowledge is far superior to mine so let's hope one of them spots this.

 

I've tested two PSUs the one that I currently have running in the machine is a XFX 850w Black Edition Modular, and the other I tested with was a OCZ 900w modXtream the error still occurs with both.

I hope its not the mobo lol thats the newest part of the build XD
I did try swaping the mobo out to test with a P5KC just to see but unfortunatly that mobo was shot and is the only spare I have lying around.
So very tempted to ditch this one and build a new one from scratch (if only i had the money lol).
