BSOD on boot, Win7 Fails to start

Thanks for saving me either $60 or $90 in ordering a recovery disk from Lenovo - my daughter's laptop went in the tank and I couldn't get Windows to load no matter what. I was finally able to do a restart with the 'Automatic restart of Windows after failure' option disabled, and this gave me the BSOD which none of the other restart methods would provide. I had the same error that May_Chile had, identical BSOD STOP codes.

Her machine is a Lenovo 3000 G350 with W7 the original operating system. It has the one touch key recovery system which I'm starting to think is useless. Anyway, she hadn't bothered to create any recovery or back up disks so it looked hopeless for a while.

So I did the PARTDISK steps you outlined and to my astonishment it worked! The damn laptop has been sitting around collecting dust for 4 months - what a relief. I did a restore to the initial configuration (way too lazy to try and save the files that were on there - my daughter had to accept it) and W7 reinstalled and everything is OK. Must have been malware or a virus.

The only issue I'm having now is trying to create recovery disks in the one touch recovery system, I'm getting a 'Verify data failed' message - I was able to create a Recovery disk from the W7 process - that will have to do for now.
