    Hello there!

I am running Windows 7 home edition on a custom built machine. I'm not great with understand what to tell you about components but there's 8 gig of memory and CPU is Intel(R) Core i5-2500K 3.30GHZ (four of those). 64 bit operating system.

I have not installed any new software or hardware recently. About a week ago the blue screens started happening quite frequently, and it's very difficult to find a pattern. The blue screen has DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at the top and the system file it states at the bottom is always ndis.sys. This actually happened originally some months back but never repeated until now so I didn't give it too much thought.

Anyway, I decided to run CCleaner, defragment, and then do a malware bytes scan. So those things I did on my own before following the steps on here before posting. Then it crashed again while syncing my iphone with itunes. It also crashed another time while streaming a video. So it was at this point that I went to your 'read and run me first' post and followed the steps. I do not have multiple protection programs; I only run outpost firewall (paid version). I do not have disk emulation software. I ran all the suggested tools and have logs. The malware bytes one is from when I ran it before I started following the steps, however.

Since running these tools I have used the computer a couple of times, but only to edit some documents and to browse the internet a little. Nothing else. Today I booted up and noticed I could see two desktop.ini files on my desktop and also a text file called procdll.txt which I have no idea about. I went to folder options to re-check 'hide important system files' or whatever it is (no idea how it got unchecked) and at that point I got the blue screen again. I apologise, I do not have a crash dump. I don't know where I would find it!

Thank you in advance for your help. I am open to any suggestions you may have

You're problems to not appear to be due to malware. You just had some junkware on your PC and still do. So let's finish cleaning this up and see what happens. Odds are that you will have to post in the Software Forum for the BSOD issues.

Uninstall the below programs. If you do not find them or they will not uninstall, just keep going.
    Freecorder Toolbar

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: Freecorder Toolbar - {1392b8d2-5c05-419f-a8f6-b9f15a596612} - C:\Users\Georgia\AppData\LocalLow\Freecorder\prxtbFre0.dll
    O2 - BHO: Freecorder - {1392b8d2-5c05-419f-a8f6-b9f15a596612} - C:\Users\Georgia\AppData\LocalLow\Freecorder\prxtbFre0.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: Freecorder Toolbar - {1392b8d2-5c05-419f-a8f6-b9f15a596612} - C:\Users\Georgia\AppData\LocalLow\Freecorder\prxtbFre0.dll
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BackgroundContainerV2] "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Rundll32.exe" "C:\Users\Georgia\AppData\Local\Conduit\BackgroundContainer\BackgroundContainer.dll",DllRun
    O23 - Service: Toolbar Service (TBSrv) - ClientConnect Ltd. - C:\Program Files (x86)\Tbccint\ToolbarService\ToolbarService.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the JRT.TXT log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Thank you kindly for your message. I have started following your instructions and my next post will come with the logs! However I just want to point out that I use revoUninstaller so when I went into analyse.exe none of the things you asked me to check were there. I assume Revo is the reason. Just letting you know.

    Thanks again

    Hello again.

I've attached the logs. It's hard to say whether everything is actually fine right now. If I get the blue screen again should I make a new post in the software forum with a link to here for reference?

    Thanks for all your help

    You're welcome.
Yes but you need to give them all the details of the BSOD not just the text error message. They need to actual hexidecimal error codes too. An Event Report would be helpful too.

    Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
Note: I did not have you reset System Restore in the above just incase you need to try using it to resolve your BSOD problems. But do note that if you use system restore, you could put back the junkware we removed.
