Bsod Software Or Hardware? [solved]

Sorry for the saga but there might be a hint in what has happened that will lead someone to diagnose my problem/s. Computer specs at bottom of post.

Jan 2015 I migrated my OS (Win7 64) to a SSD but kept the original OS intact (hidden) on a partition on the original mechanical drive ( and thank goodness I did!). This mechanical drive also has another patrician for documents, Outlook files, pictures etc also accessed by the SSD too.

Since migration there has been the occasional BSOD at start up, but the auto repair always got me up and running again and never a BSOD during a session.

THEN about a month ago the first of a number of random problems: on a restart BEFORE windows splash, the computer indicated the CPU fan wasn’t working. I checked, the fan was working (and I have never seen this alert again). BUT on restart no video from the video card, but plugging into the video from on-board/motherboard meant I could see an otherwise normal restart. After reseating the video card all seemed well again.

Tried to install Win 10 upgrade when told my machine was ready hoping this might repair any faulty Win7 elements. Upgrade failed.

This seemed to make things worse (though it could be just coincidence) with lots more BSOD at startup. Bluescreenview showed all different Bug Check Strings and different Drivers at fault: avgldx64.sys and ntoskrml.sys the most common. IE nothing consistent. The only thing predictable is its unpredictability.

Finally the autorepair wouldn’t solve the problem so I couldn’t boot normally. But I was able to boot if I told Windows to ignore unsigned drivers (or words similar).

Meanwhile, several passes of Memtest over a couple of weeks revealed all healthy each time. Ran CC Cleaner, used Slim drivers to update drivers, Ashampoo Registry Cleaner, Scanned for viruses and malware (nothing showing). Used Msconfig to experiment with less startup programs. Nothing made any lasting difference.

Finally I resorted to re enabling my old Win7 OS on the mechanical drive and booting from it. At first this seemed to solve all problems. Until I ran Windows Update and updated drivers and programs etc. More BSOD at start up but on second try it always booted normally without repair. Good enough I thought and certainly not as bad as the OS on the SSD got.

SO migrated the OS back to SSD which seemed to function the same as the original OS… for a bit! BUT now I have USB ports complaining that USB devices are using too much power and should be removed and the ports reset (no specific device indicated, there is only the the keyboard, wireless mouse and monitor web cam). BSODs DURING sessions now (twice in a week) AND no mini dump record of them.

One last other symptom AVG internet security 2014 doesn't always load properly and takes a reboot (sometimes more than one) for it to function with all elements working.

But now I’m thinking hardware. Motherboard? RAM (despite several Memory tests)? Should I bother with the pain of a clean install of Win7?

Thanks for reading all this way. Appreciate any thoughts.

I'd try uninstalling AVG (as 2014 is way outdated) and temporarily installing MSE as it's not likely to clash with other software and drivers.
I'd also run sfc /scannow to make sure that no system files have been corrupted with all the BSODs.

    Thanks _nullptr.
Ran sfc /scannow. Result was "Windows Resources Protection did not find any integrity violation." Have uninstalled AVG and installed MSE. Will update after a few restarts.

Well looks like it was AVG. Every since _nullptr suggested uninstalling, the computer has run without a problem. Many thanks. Hope this helps someone else.
