BSOD w/ ar5211.sys

I am having a crazy time with my on-board wireless card and I can not figure out how to fix it.

It started when occasionally my wireless card would stop working randomly. The on-board light would go off, indicating that my wifi card was off. When I would manually switch it back on, BSOD w/ an error on ar5211.sys.

Now this coincided with a malware infection (VirtuMonde) that i have just cleaned with advice from the malware forum.

I have made attempts to "update" the driver and by downloading a driver from the manufacturer, Acer. The wifi card still doesn't work, but the light is back on, and when I try to turn the wifi card off manually, it doesn't BSOD, but the light stays with no wifi.

I searched this forum for info on the problem and I came across a thread with the same problem. I went to the MS page suggested and tried what it said, but to no avail. And I can't find the new driver they are talking about as an update.

I know my wifi isn't so old that it isn't supported, but I can't figure out what to do at this point.

well, i attempted the solutions posted in that thread and have installed the controller and updated driver. It has a built in troubleshooter that says everything is running, but the "radio" card is not on. The solution was to let the software turn the "radio" on for me. I allowed it. BSOD. Same error. Whether I do it manually, or let the software do it, turning on my wifi card brings on the BSOD.
