Bt Internet Major Issues

hi guys, heres the problem, since upgrading to bt 8mg, with the home hub, my speed has been gradually fading away, joint with random disconnections, the phone causes the internet to drop etc. totally crap basically. So i decided to switch from USB to ethernet, seemed to have solved the disconnections, however my speed is appauling, i was hitting just under 500kbps before on USB, now i cant even get 100kbps, ive uninstalled all my bt software, reinstalled, played with network card settings and still no luck, any ideas???

the network card is Intel (r) PRO/100 VE
also have changed it to full duplex, and there are no IRQ conflicts

ok guys, firstly would liek to apologise for abondoning this thread, however had soome major issues with router which took 3 three days to get sorted, however all fixed now, there was actually no issue once i switched to ethernet, as the next morning my speed was at a massive 700kbps! but now me and my friend, both with bt broadband 8meg seem to be reduced to a poor 100kbps at best at night times :cry
any one shed light on this situation

Is it a wireless router and is someone stealing your bandwidth?

yea i have the but home hub, and turned modified the wireless settings so no other devices can connect, so i dont think it could be bandwidth theft, unless there is another way to find out?? well the problem is still the same, at 12 oclock today my internet was downloading at about 650kbps, now wont hit 200kbps, average speed is 30!!!! WHAT CAN I DO?!?! lol:cry

 

If you log onto your BT router you can list all pcs connected to it, and ban any you don't like.
If there are no interlopers at reduced speed times than you will have to complain to BT, as your pc is clearly capable of running faster internet if supplied with a faster feed.

well i have now actually totally blocked any one from connecting wirelessly and as per usual my speed is fine, but once about 8 pm arrives i will no doubt have slow internet, are their any other ideas? i will of course be phoning bt if not

As more users join the broadband we are certainly seeing more dropouts and reduced speeds due to increased contention. (Posh word for users sharing). Yes unless you live on Isla or somewhere all ADSL is shared.
Do you have an establishemnt that might come on line at 8pm near you?
You will need to push BT as lots of users are experiencing dificulties.
