Budget GPU Comparison

Ok, So my Mother needs a new GPU. She is insisting on a $70CAD price-cap (before shipping and taxes) despite my telling her she should bump it up to $100.

so i've been doing some browsing on Newegg.ca and have come up with the options listed below.

If someone who knows a thing or two about these GPU's and can point out which ones are better, and which ones are a waste of time and money, that would be great

Hmm, didnt see that one.

Now this is where I have a question.

Will the one you suggested with 512Mb of DDR5 @ 1000Mhz out-perform one of the ones with 1Gb of DDR3 @ 1800Mhz?

 

My guess is yes, until you want to drive 3x HD monitors, then the 1GB card might be better

 

she wont be using more than 1 monitor ever, i think she's still using VGA until the new card is here :-D. thanks for the advice

This card will be mainly for HD video playback and mild-moderate video encoding, no gaming or folding.
