Well as you can probably tell my time looking for parts really didn't as planned as I don't know what's good... What's not so good, and what's worth its money. But you guys do! :) Which is why this thread is dedicated to you guys deciding whats worth getting for me...

Yeah I am starting from scratch but only need the tower, I have a moniter and speakers (which I may change later on)... I'm a hardcore GAMER so i'm hoping to get a pretty powerful comp to play games at high detail and a high framerate...

I have roughly £900 (give or take) to spend on a new machine... If your going to link me could you try your hardest to make it a UK site please ;)

I'm hoping for this thread to be a success and help me decide on what to get.

    Over to you

My personal advice would be to buy one from a reputable supplier, like Dell. £900 will get you a fairly good machine, and it's likely to be more reliable than one that is put together from assorted parts. You can always add anything specific that you need at a later date, as funds permit.

A lot of people disagree with me on this, but I speak from my own personal experience.

I built a pc a couple of years ago, and as I'm no hardware expert I took apparently good advice on what to buy. It was OK, but nothing special. My girlfriend bought an off-the-shelf, basic Dell, for about the same cost, and it was embarassingly better, so much that I cannibalised mine for parts and got rid of it.

Ignoring my own advice, I've just spent £1300 on a 'bespoke' pc, designed and built for me by a computer supplier in Liverpool, and to be frank (but don't tell my girlfriend!!), I wish I'd spent the money elsewhere. While it's pretty good, it does have some 'quirks', and I still find myself using the old Dell for day to day tasks.

You might get lucky, but unless you're 100% sure what you're doing, I'd go for a pre-built PC. Just don't go to the likes of PC World, 'cause you'll need a second mortgage! :)

Each to their own, of course, but thats my opinion.
