There is a store near me where you walk with them while they advise you the parts to buy for your PC. Then they assemble it for you. They also install the O.S.
I like that except I want to be involved in the assembly .I am ok with my software but have not done much hard ware work.
I currently have an older 4 1/2 year Dell XPS 8300 which lacks the UEFUI, 3.0 USB, SSD etc.
I also have learned that I prefer a removable video card rather than an integrated one.
I bought Office with the pc but it turned out to e better if I had the software from a retail store for re installation purposes. I would also install my own OS -Windows 10 x 64.
So, I am looking for a source to advice me as I go along about parts and when stuck "how to."
Mostly I would need help with compatibility.
Do you have any ides how I would go about this?
I have tried googling but the coordination and compatibility factors are not there. I guess a kit would be OK as long as it met my needs.
Do you have any suggestions about my task? I have no idea how much to pray to get this coaching as some parts places seem content to get you to buy their parts.
Is online a feasible idea or is in town better. I live in a city out side of DC in southern MD.
    Thank you
    Peter

Compatibility is easy enough, choose a system from Alienware, Asus, Dell, HP or whoever that you like. Look at the components and you know what to buy. The big boys know what works well with Win 10.
I suggest an Asus motherboard and when you have all the parts in their boxes together, stop. Get some coffee and read the motherboard manual from cover to cover. You will not need all the info, you may not understand it all, but you will have a reference and procedure in your mind.

Fill out your system specs in your profile here and post any questions.

Thank you for your referral. I also found parts picker to be useful.
