Just bought a ASUS P5Q Turbo LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard. Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor. SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card. connected everything , it powers up fine but nothing on the monitor, reasons why?

Is your video card seated all the way? What you could also do is if you have integrated video (built into the mobo) you could try plugging into that and see if you get display.

Just curious how much watts is the PSU as those parts will require a lot of power, not that the PSU is the problem.

You sure the monitor is working, used it before or tried connecting it to another PC yet?

Are you getting any beeps from the motherboard when you turn it on? Just because all the fans are spinning doesn't necessarily mean that the motherboard is posting......

    Not that I've heard.

Ahh the plot thickens, Then it would appear that the system is not making it to the post test. This is usually caused by something like the motherboard is shorting to the case or there are some connections that are not correctly installed. If you can, try testing outside the case with just the motherboard/cpu, ram and video card and see if the system will post.

I don't have a clue what could be wrong, theres nothing else to connect everything seems to be right, i read something about jumpers thats on this mobo, anyone know about those and there functions?

Have you tried BOTH DVI ports? When I built mine the other day the top one wouldn't work but the bottom one would. Obviously you've checked the connections, do you have another machine you can test it on.

This will sound idiotic: but I've had this same thing happen, built my own box, went over *everything* (I thought) and it turned out one of my ram cards wasn't quite seated correctly...strangest thing...but that's what it was...you might get a lot of posts like mine, of where it turned out to be something that seemed o.k., but at closer look, something wasn't seating right..."just in case..." Best wishes tho, I know how frustrating it is, and how hopeful one gets, when booting up the first time, hearing the fans spin...and then nothing...

Are you 200% sure you have no extra standoffs mounted in the case that do not match up to a corresponding motherboard mounting hole?

Many graphics cards require additional power connections directly from the PSU. According the specs page for your card here, that graphics card requires a
