I've been playing Bulletstorm a lot lately, and while the graphics are truly excellent, they don't always seem to be DX11 quality... for example: the waterfalls, ripples in the water, and most water effects in general are pretty weak compared to what I've seen in other games; even DX9 games I've seen with better water effects.... I've done a bit of research, and I haven't found a concrete answer as to whether it's a full DX11 capable game.... anyone?

(BTW - "Bulletstorm" is easily one of the best shooters I've played recently - it has a VERY strong "Serious Sam" feel to it, especially if "Serious Sam" had blood and gore and profanity, and a cyborg sidekick who's fighting the robotic impulses that were evilly planted in his brain - even the main character looks a lot like Serious Sam (crossed with the X-Men's Wolverine) and he sounds like Serious Sam too ;) )

its a new game isnt it ? It is released last month I think. it should be DX11. Have you update your video card driver recently ? if you havent you should and check the video settings of the game.

Yes, the game is VERY new (about a month old), but that doesn't necessarily mean it's DX11 compatible. For example, the newest Call Of Duty release "Black Ops" is not DX11, it's only DX9. I have already checked all the in-game settings and there is no setting for any version of DirectX. Obviously, if there was a DX11 setting, I wouldn't have started this thread. And, yes, of course I have the latest video drivers installed with my new Nvidia GTX570 video card..... thanks for the suggestions though....

    :confused Anyone?

Thanks Mimsy, it does help a bit, but also adds a bit more confusion due the ambiguity of the following statement taken directly from the link you provided:
Also, the specs say that the minimum/recommended GPU must support DX9c, but that's standard for ALL games; DirectX9c is required for every game produced in the past +/- 8 years (or since the release of DX9c). The video options in Bulletstorm are quite limited for a new release which I found surprising. It's primarily the water effects that have me wondering about DX11, because overall, the water effects are pretty weak in comparison to everything else in the game.... thanks for all the input everyone! If anyone happens to come across a SOLID answer like "YES - BULLETSTORM HAS FULL DX11 CAPABILITIES", great, post the link! Otherwise, it really isn't a big deal.
    ;)

Unfortunately I don't own the game, so I can't investigate on that end, and it's next to impossible to find anything definitive on the Bulletstorm website.

The Unreal Engine supports DX11, I know that. Problem is, does Bulletstorm support that part of the engine? It's annoying that the post I linked to is the best info I could find... :(

Yeah - it's kind of odd that they don't come straight out and say "Bulletstorm supports the latest DX11 visual innovations!" even as marketing hype. This leads me to believe that it's a DX9 game. I also read that the PC version was a direct port from the console version(s), and most/all console games are DX9c, no DX10, no DX11. Again, not a big deal 'cuz the game is so freekin' fun and the encounters with water are few and far between, and other than the weak water effects (and other liquids like blood - eeeew :puke), the game is graphically awesome! The only liquids that don't look a bit lame are the pools of glowing green toxic radioactive sludge....
