buritos.exe and more

    Hello, it's me again, but for a different computer.

    My mother's Windows XP Home Edition computer has been infected with some viruses and malicious software. This includes buritos.exe and Windows Security Center 2008.

    The problem is, I can't run any processes or programs, even in safe mode.

    I even tried copying the programs in your tutorial onto a USB drive and running them like that, but no luck. The viruses just cancel the processes.

    I really need to get rid of this virus, but I can't seem to do anything at the moment. Please help.

    Are you sure that you have really tried all the programs in the READ & RUN ME. Other people with this infection have been able to run the READ & RUN ME. Example threads:



    If you are sure that you cannot run anything at in normal boot mode or safe mode (did you try killing the processes that the infection is running first using Task Manager), then the only options we can give you are below:
    • First Option: Use your Windows XP boot CD to boot to the Recovery Console and manual delete the files causing your problem. But since you have given us no logs, all I can say is look for C:\Windows\buritos.exe and C:\Windows\System32\buritos.exe and delete them.
    • Second Option: Reinstall

    Well, I had tried all of that, but it seemed another virus was canceling all other processes other than explorer and sometimes task manager. Believe it or not, no other processes were running than the ones needed to run the system. I do not know how it did this, but it did.

    But one of the viruses shut down my mother's computer, so I reinstalled windows. Now it's all fresh and new. Some of her pictures are gone, but I think she doesn't really need them. Thanks for helping though.
