I burned a disc image the same way twice but got different results. I download from tech bench the Win 10 image.
Is it correct that I right click the image, click burn to disc and verify?

Yes, that's correct. I don't quite know why you got different results in your two burns but I don't use Windows built-in burning function. It doesn't allow you to adjust the speed of the burn. I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 Free because I had problems with CDBurnerXP if there were errors during verification. But burning at lower than maximum speed will reduce errors.

How coincidental -I used Ashampoo for years and now use Windows 10. I did try the Ashampoo download but it was awful. What site do you download it from?

@Eldon - I wish I saved my discs so I could better relate to them. One had the green setup when inserted and the other just had a run of characters like 1511_Win 10_Eng etc which I obviously cannot remember. I did not know at the time to check if the 'bad' one had .installwim.
One of my attempts simply said failed. It was with Win 10 software. Actually the successful discs were burned using Win 10 burning software. As this post shows I used to use Ashampoo ver 6 with no problems but figured why have an extra program if it is not necessary.

I couldn't find where I downloaded Burning Studio 6 from but, here's my GDrive link for it. Eldon's link is for a different version.

And Burning Studio 6 runs on my Windows 10 without issue. There were offers for Burning Studio 2015 and 2016 which I also took advantage of but 6 is the only one of the 3 versions I have that shows time remaining during verification (something I like to know).

Eldon's link did not include Win 10 and I could not access it with your GDrivelink.
I will stick with Win 10 burning software and maybe later, if necessary see if i can find version 6.
FWIW, ver 6 is the one I like best.

Eldon, I appreciate your referrals, however, each requires less than Win 10. They seem to run up to Win 7.
I did try the new Ashampoo before but it seemed it was luring me to a trial which would ultimately cost -no sure.
As I said I'll use Win 10 burner for now and thanks.
As a side note, my machines came with Win 7. if I imaged backto it i would regain bluetooth and all would run compatibly.
Once hooked on the new it is hard to go back. o_O

If you're satisfied using Windows for all your disc burning needs, then you're OK.

My needs are simple so for now it's OK.
I looked at ImgBurn once but it was over my level. It was tempting b/c it could do so much but that is for a later time.

If you had right-clicked the file in my GDrive folder and selected Download, you would have had the installer. But, you've chosen to stick with the built-in.

Only you can access your GDrive, everyone else gets an Access Denied

I get a 'Sign in to continue to Google Drive'. And it's not going to happen. :D

Yep, if you are not signed in to Google that's what you get. Sign in and you get Access Denied.

That's interesting. Aren't you the one I GDrived the XP Reg Key to?

OK. I think I found the problem. See if this works (someone please). I GDrived the XP Reg Key to "Bernard" but, I am unable to recall his MG Forums Username. The PMs we exchanged are gone.

Yes it is. Now if you click on the "Download" button, you'll get the file. I had to create a shareable link which enables anyone with the link to access and download whatever I place in the GDrive folder without having to log in to Google. I've got to do that for each item I place there. I didn't have to do that for the XP Reg Key (I don't know why).

That was me then when we were swapping notes on keeping XP updated after support ended. Everything's OK on that front and your latest link to ashampoo does work.

Just to qualify, the link does work but the requirements go up to 8. One might have to install it and make it compatible with 10, if possible.

If something will run on Win 7, 8 and 8.1, it will run on 10. As I stated earlier, Burning Studio 6 runs on my Win 10 on a Dell Precision M70 without issue. The only thing I had to run in compatibility mode was an old Sigmatel C Major Audio device driver installer for my old Dell Precision M70. Once installed, my laptop speakers worked normally. I had to find a Win 7 driver for the nVidia Quadro FX Go 1400 Graphics card but, once installed on Win 10, I had full function. The GWX said the old girl wasn't compatible with Win 10 but, if there's a will, there's a way. ;-)

On my Latitude E6400 I run 8.1 Pro, 8.1 Enterprise, 10 Pro AND 10 Enterprise. Burning Studio 6 works fine on all.

Good to know. Goes to show what you can do when you know what you are doing. I'll go for 6 and TQ. Peter

I thought by making a program compatible with a previous version it would enable it to run. However I found that Win 10 is backwards compatible. I wonder why one of my programs that did not work with 10 became functional when I ran it as 7. I guess it could be a coincidence or any number of reasons. Do you have any insight to this issue with FileHippo Update Checker.

Up to a point yes, but far from 100%. When I upgraded this laptop from 7 to 10 it booted out our old friends CCleaner, Speccy and WinPatrol - all incompatible with 10.

Interesting again. I run CCleaner and WinPatrol Plus on 10. But, I did install them WHILE in Win 10. There was an update for CCleaner on MG's. I believe it was yesterday. WinPatrol also had an update on MG's a short time ago.

That's fine. It's available for whomever wants it. When you install it, it will ask for a key. You can get the key for free. It also installs a shortcut on the desktop "Your Software Deals" which can simply be deleted. All Ashampoo products do this (at least the 3 versions of Burning Studio I run do).

Thanks mdonah. CCleaner I've more or less forgotten about as I now use WiseCare365; Speccy I don't need in 10 as I have it in 8.1 (dual boot), but WinPatrol I'd like back so I'll take a look at that.

If you don't have your registration info for Plus, Bill P Studios can find it for you and email the info to you. I had to get the info from him when I installed WinPatrol on my Precision M70 after I had long since divested myself of a Dimension 4500S desktop. Nice thing about WinPatrol is the fact that it was a one-time $14.95US fee for life.

I run IOBit's ASC Pro myself and I quintuple boot (7 Enterprise, 8.1 Pro, 8.1 Enterprise, 10 Pro and 10 Enterprise). I guess I've got too much time on my hands. :)

Not on Patch Tuesday though ;) I'm a bit the same. Including the wife's we have two desktops, two laptops, two with dual boots, a tablet, two smartphones, umpteen virtual machines and about to get a smart TV. No wonder the dusting and vacuuming gets a bit behind ;)
