    I am using :

    hp multimedia center pc m1270n
    intel pentium 4 with hyper-threading
    1gb pc3200 ddr sdram
250 gb 7200rpm ata hard drive
ati radeon x300 se pci-e graphics card
128 mb ddr video memory + tv out
dvd +/- rw lightscribe double layer 16x dvd/cd writer

problem: i have been making slideshows and recording home movies from vhs etc to my hard drive, then burning them to dvd. in the last month, every dvd i burn has glitches, catches and jerks. it has gone from making smooth transtions between pictures to catching and skipping. the home video i just recorded will skip a word or two out of a sentence and sometimes is barely noticable however i catch it. the programs i use are windows movie maker and intervideo windvd.

does anyone know what would suddenly cause this to take place? i do regular cleanups, have antispyware, antivirus etc, scan disk and defrag, nothing helps.

thank you for your time and any help will be greatly appreciated

It may have something to do with the video compression and associated filters, I'm certainly no expert. This link may help, a more specific forum for your query, ceratinly not trying to deter you from here (the best advice site!!):

Have you changed DVD discs recently? Maybe try at a lower burn spped.

How are you capturing the VHS video to your computer?

Thank you to all who replied so promptly!

i am not sure about the compression thing yet but will look into it. i also appreciate the link to the video help site and will certainly use it.

i havent changed the type of dvd i use simply because after many attempts the one i now use seems to be the best overall.

when i capture i use the hp media centre analogue input, directly from the camera or the vcr.

i have not made any changes to my procedure at all.

i am now trying the burn at a slower speed to see if that makes a difference.

    thanks again everyone
