    Re: Nero Update Site

    Go to
    http://www.nero.com/en/Downloads.html

Select your version you are using and download the applicable update and just install same over the nero programming you have!
Do not uninstall the program - just install over the top?
    ----------------------
    Next you can try this?
First you must Copy your Nero Serial Number down [you must have this before continuing with the below!
If you feel the Nero program is corrupted you will have to cleanup the Nero program = Go to Nero =Sitemap= [top RH corner Web Page] and look for "Support" = "Tools and Utilities" = use same to scrub out the old Nero programming. Then install and enter in your kept serial number
    -----------
    Hope may help

Or if you like freeware alternatives, here is one,

    http://majorgeeks.com/DeepBurner_Free_d4055.html

But if you are burning coasters with a program that did work, it might be better to fix the issue than change burning programs, as it could haunt you in the future!:)

there is only one problem with updating, i have nero express 6.0.0.24 and the new one is 6.6.0.16 and they say that you can't upgrade, like going from 5.5 to 6.0, and thats what i would be doing, i think. do you know if the update would work? because by them it should not, and i don't see anything else on their site nero 6.

  As of yet I cannot offer you a solution, as I too am searching,, see http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=91001

What I can offer you is the fact that your build of “Nero” can be upgraded, but only from the Nero program itself. There is a tab within that shows you, your build and the latest updates. But I, like you have found that not only does Nero build great coasters but it tries to take over all media functions (e.g. Play a song once with Nero, and all your music files in that file will default to Nero play only) It has other nasties to numerous to mention here. I am going to try some of the suggestions that have been posted to my thread, and will advise on that thread what worked for me. Wishing you Good Luck

I may be wrong in this, but I don't believe that the OEM versions of Nero are upgradeable, but the retail packages are!:) As to Nero burning coasters, there has to be a reason, and it is generally in a log file that Nero saves. The solution could be as simple as uninstalling Nero, running an app such as CCleaner, and reinstalling Nero, or it could simply be bad media. More information is needed, and I don't think that Sony owns Nero!:)

    BCGray,

In order for Nero to take over all these chores/tasks, user approval is required! There is a tab at the bottom of the screen that shows all these tasks that says "deselect all" and if this tab is checked and selected, then Nero doesn't take over anything. I went through this once myself!

    Contact Nero Support

    Hi,
Just another suggestion is to contact "Nero Support" with your problems?

A little while ago I experienced a Hic Cup and sent Nero the problem I was experiencing and their support came back to me within a day with the answer.
No harm for you to try same?
    -------------------------------
I agree with "BCGray" I always when during the install of Nero I deselect the all the Media and Video associations as I found they seem to interfere with the Media and Video oprograms installed on my computer.
Had a look and there seems nowhere to modify same in the Nero Options

    maybeok,

That is precisely the point that I was trying to make, and thank you for confirming it. The choice is up to the user, and they have to accept for it to be implemented!:)

OEM is upgradable. It just sometimes doesn't have all the functions of the retail package.

ok i got the update from sony's site, it worked just fine, now i'm running nero 6.6.something, what that did fix is the xp SP2 warning that it was not compatible. i also used a disc washer on both of my drives, that seems to have fixed them, i think it was a dirty lens.

also wanted to add that sony tech guy said the best media to use is TDK, they told me this a while ago, he said that their media sucks, even he does not use it. i found that kinda funny but its true.
