Buying A New 4k Monitor And Maybe A New Home Theatre Screen

Hey MGs, I am going to replace my Sharp Quatron monitor with a Samsung 55" 4K smart TV because I can get a superceded 6 series for less than AU$1000 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-e...ku6000-55-4k-uhd-hdr-smart-led-lcd-tv/957804/
Has anybody had a Samsung series 6 smart TV and more importantly have you had any problems?
Is the quad core processor up to the job?
Up to a year or two ago Samsung had a very good name in Australia but they released a washing machine that has caused many house fires and they were very slow to respond to an obvious design problem until the government stepped in and made them recall the washing machines. Now the Samsung Note 7 problems and their initially slow response means I don't have quite so much confidence in the brand.

If I hear some favourable replies re: Samsung 6 series smart TVs then I might also consider a Samsung 6 series 70" 4K TV. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-e...ku6000-70-4k-uhd-hdr-smart-led-lcd-tv/977341/ to replace my heap of s#*t 65" HiSense smart TV screen for the kid's rumpus room/home theatre. When I bought my 75" LG 4K screen for my other home theatre these Samsungs were too dear at AU$5800 (my LG cost just under AU$4000) but now they have dropped to less than half price as now they are an old model.
What do you guys think? I need to make a decision before Tuesday 10th January as the prices go back up on Wednesday the 11th as my friend (the store manager) is holding the prices from their boxing day sale for me until the 10th.

I have seen both displays working and the image quality is very good so now I am just a bit worried about reliability because if I buy both items it is a fair chunk of play money that could be used for a new games pc ;)
Thanks and any replies will be greatly appreciated :)
    Cheers

    Hi Joffa
Looks awesome, not had a series 6 but I do love Samsung TV/Monitors and have had many with no issues so far. Currently I have series 4 1080p but may go 4K at some point this year, not much on UK TV to warrant it so far.

    Thanks for the input Dave:)
The only things Samsung products I have had are SSDs (Pro series) and DVD and bluray burners. This will be my first foray into Samsung whitegoods
I am going to call my friend and get one put on hold and get it delivered late next week

I mostly stream movies although I don't mind watching a bit of tennis on the big TV ;)
I might hang off on the 75" for another few months as the new models will be coming out in April and there may be better bargains to be had;)

The main exercise is to get a 55" 4k monitor to replace the 46" 1080p Sharp Quatron that is starting to show its age. I guess I shouldn't complain as it has been running 24/7 for over 6 years and now when I use the remote to go from the workstation computer input to my gaming computer input it thinks about things for a minute or two and sometimes does a reset. Previously changing inputs was instantaneous so something has slowly degraded over time so I think it may be just about to fail.
The reason I switch inputs is because I use a KVM to switch the keyboard and mouse but I haven't found a KVM that switches HDMI and also works with my bluetooth keyboard and mouse. So far I have tried several Aten KVMs, several Belkin KVMs, several Serveredge KVMs and I also borrowed an Intellinet network console KVM.
Currently I am using a Belkin Flip that is designed for switching Apple Macs because it is the only one so far to reliably switch the keyboard and mouse.

Be sure to look at upscaled pictures on the 4K devices. Actual 4K content is rare so most of your movies will be 1080, but will look much better after upscaling. I have a 75" Samsung and even my tired old eyes can see the difference.
Also check out the remote. Our Samsung remote is pretty useless for most things, keeps you hunting menus. I configured an after market remote to get more one button tasks. Epitome of laziness or optimal use of time - you decide.

Sure...... it is in Australia so maybe a pickup as it is big and bulky and I don't have the boxes any more.... BTW you do realise I am changing it because I think the processor or processor board is on the way out as it has been running 24/7 for over 5 years ;)
    Thanks DOA :)
I already have an LG 4k 75" in my home theatre and it is very good. The new Samsung 75" will be going in the kids rumpus room/home theatre. That is interesting about the remote and I will definitely go aftermarket as I prefer minimum clicks. Good first hand advice about the remote so thanks :)

As I said in the original post up until early last year, in Australia, Samsung had a very good name as a maker of reliable long lasting products but the washing machine saga and then the Note 7 stuff up has eroded my confidence in the brand and I just want to be sure I am not buying another problem product like the Hisense 65" that I already own. It has already been replaced with a newer model under warranty and then the replacement had to fixed and now it is out of warranty and the same fault (no picture but it fully powers up) has happened again. :(
