My C drive is only 10Gb. capacity and is almost full, even after clean-up, de-frag. and moving files to drive D.
How can I install a bigger drive to replace it, transfering the OP (Windows XP) to the new drive?

Hi, First I would go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Disk Drive and double click to find out who makes your hard drive. (I'm assuming you have a pc, by the way...) Mine says "Hitachi DK23EB-40" it is a 40 GB hard drive. If i look it up on Ebay there is one for sale for $70.00. Its a 5400rpm IDE ATA, 2.5 inch laptop hd. There is also a 10 GB hd for sale also, a Hitachi DK23BA-10 for about $50.00 Look yours up and see.

Seagate, Hitachi, Toshiba, all make good hard drives for laptops. I am going to go with a 7600 rpm hd that has 120 GB or more. the faster rpm gives you a slight edge in date retrieval times.

Look up software that moves your data from your laptop to a separate computer or hard drive. Symantec Drive Image is worth looking at, but there are many many others that may do a better job.

I see no indication in the original post that he has a laptop.

Thanks for the response. I don't have a problem in choosing a new drive, my problem is with the transfer of the files and os from the old to the new. I will certainly look at the Symantic software you mention.
Incidentally, I do have a laptop as well.

Thanks for the info. re. xps' copy wizard.
The main problem is that I want to transfer all data from my original c drive to a new one. This will include the actual xp operating system that the pc is running on. (I do have access to another pc via a home network)
