What are some intertesting things to do once I have brought up the C prompt?

1/ Backup your registry first then try this>

pick your own colour at the end

Set an exotic Command Prompt color
First value is background second is forground eg. 0000000a = light green on black
    ; 0=black 8=gray
    ; 1=blue 9=light blue
    ; 2=green a=light green
    ; 3=aqua b=light aqua
    ; 4=red c=light red
    ; 5=purple d=light purple
    ; 6=yellow e=light yellow
    ; 7=white f=bright white

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor]
    "DefaultColor"=dword:0000000a

Copy & paste the 3 lines above into notepad & save as prompt.reg or whatever with extention .reg. Right click, merge.

2/ use F7 to scroll previous commands

3/ Put the attachment in your windows folder, open the prompt & instead of typing dir, type di. Rename the extention zip to exe.Makes it very easy to navigate your way around.

4/ Some basics in the attached doc file.

Great. BTW the command prompt is at the end of C:/ Documents and settings. Is there a way to go back before Documents and settings?

well to go back to your root use cd\ to go back one folder go cd..

to shutdown your computer at prompt enter: shutdown -s
    to restart : shutdown -r
for a time tack on a - t followed by a two digit number
for remote enter -m \\hostname\ and then the s or r command and maybe even a t.

for a comment put - c "your messege"

    have fun.
