A few days back, out of the blue, I decided to install Spybot Search and Destroy. Thank goodness I did because somewhere or another I got something. When I start up my computer it asks me if I want to change a registry value and I decline because I don't know what it is. It is persistent so I googled around and all of the other victims were actually infected and cannot access any of their drives.
Currently, there is nothing wrong with my computer and I am only interested in removing this thing wanting to change my registry but all of the solutions suggested in other places I have read only seem to work if the virus has actually infected your computer.
Does anyone know what I can do?

    Thanks and Happy Holidays,
    Jacob

EDIT: Also, I love your slogan. xD

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

It just sounds like you installed Teatimer and it will block changes to the registry including valid ones.

However if you wish to check your PC for any additional malware, please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. You will notice in the procedure that we specify that you MUST disable Spybot's Teatimer. Make sure you follow those instructions or my the first line in my next message will be to go back and disable Spybot's Teatimer.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
