C++ Runtime error

I'm trying to install AntiVir Personal Edition 6.34.01.178 on my computer with Windows 98 HE. Everything downloads fine and then when I'm installing at the very end of the instalation process it gives me this error

"Program: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\RARSFX0\UPGRADE.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I started of in the software thread and they directed me to come over here. I've attached my bitdefender log. If you need anything else, please let me know!

• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)

• Bitdefender
• Panda Scan
• HijackThis

Your BitDefender log show several infected emails in Outlook.

 

ok. Here's panda, and hijack this. Bitdefender was on the other post.
Because some of these scans took so long I re-ran adaware and ccleaner between them.. hope that doesn't mess things up.

Also this computer isn't mine so I'm hesitant to go into her outlook and search for the e-mails that are infected. Any advice on that?

 

also there was malware found in both adaware and spybot but all instances were deleted, and Runtime error was still present when I tried to install antivir.

 

They are no visible signs of malware in either log. Have you tried installing additional C++ libraries on the computer?

 

I'm not at al familiar with that.. so, no....
could you walk me through it?
