Hi, last night I was on my brothers laptop and i was scanning for threats with Malwarebytes Anti-malware and AVG, off the top of my head, Malwarebytes found over 30 threats and AVG found 2. After selecting to remove these threats I was prompted to restart the laptop which I did. It was then that I found problems, the screen would stay of 'Starting Windows' and then show a black screen, I assume this is a blue screen error. I then retried turning on the computer but pressing F8 and going into Safe Mode, this did not work, nor did System Repair or Restore, however, it did tell me I had a C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_32\Desktop.ini problem. That is where I found a thread by rattlhead29, in which the helper specified him steps to do, I have followed the steps up to getting a FRST.txt document onto a flash drive, but I can no longer carry on with the steps as the helper specified the next step is different per computer. All I am looking for is someone who can help me with the FRST.txt document that I will be adding to this thread.

    Thanks in advance,

I have moved your thread to the malware forum. I don't know what steps you are speaking of, but any steps with logs at Major Geeks are typical done by our malware specialists and are specific to someone's computer and their files. Following steps like that could harm yours.

For malware removal you will need to follow all steps in this thread and attach your logs so someone can go through them with you:

If because you have issues booting in both normal AND safe mode at the moment, and what LauraR linked to does not work for you right now, just attach the log you have from FRST.
