Call From Dell Tech Re Malware

System is Win 7, Home Prem., SP 1. Not sure if this belongs here or not. Anyway, got a call from someone saying they were Dell Tech advising that my comp had downloaded malware and that they would walk me thru the repair if I'd turn my desktop on. (I purchased this system from Dell about 17 months ago.) Being hesitant of who the caller actually was, i declined the offer. Later, I checked the caller's phone # and it actually was from Dell tech.

Anyone have any idea what this could have been about? I had Dell computers for the last 10 years and never receiver such a call. My system appears to be running normally.

 

Thanks for the offer, but my comp seems to be running fine. Had slowness a couple of months ago and Chas got the issue resolved. Issue was the paid McAfee av program that came with this Dell comp. Dont know but perhaps that's why they called. Either that or a scam. Thanks again...
