Any of you US folks - you fancy giving me a ring without paying for international rates?

No weird VoIP stuff to put on your computer, or mics and headsets. You just need to call a my ipkall number and it'll automatically be redirected to me :D And you just need to pay for the "long distance" charges, unless you're in the same state as the phone number in which case you're lucky :p

But yeah, anyone who fancies it gimme a PM and i'll tell you my phone number :D

And why is it that autosensing adverts always think I have something to do with credit cards? Psht...

But that costs MONEY (using skypeIn). Or requires people to use skype - what if their connection is really slow? And what if they don't have a mic and headset?

Just cause I had to use my iPod headphones as a mic!

I've got a decent mic now - it's a Sony Walkman ECM-929LT Stereo mic - old but it's decent quality. Much better than those crappy headset mics they sell down at PC world. I've also got headphones so you won't get any echo ;)

That is where they went to?

Did Customs hold them up from being shipped?

If I actually want to use the phone (rather than voice chat) to call the kids in the UK I use a cheap international dialling card. Works out cheaper than the long distance charge here...something like 2c/min. Also if you call from a cell phone, not a landline, you get an even better rate than that. 20 bucks gives me something like 400+ mins of talk time :) If anyone else is interested , PM me and I'll send you the website. Topping up current cards is easy too...no re-registration crap.

I'm planning on buying a USATalk card to call out in the USA. Should get me 666 minutes for a tenner, which ain't bad! And since I can call toll free numbers it works perfect :)

There are some nice advantages to having a SIP provider in another country :D

    You guys are lucky.

Mobile phone calls are SO expensive here!

Warning to any US-based people calling the UK...don't call a cellphone number in the UK....they will cost you an amazing amount even if you have a cheap dialing card.

Mine doesn't? In fact, calling my landline from the states is more expensive.... for me. I have to pay international connection charges on my landline and I don't on my mobile... that's when someone is calling me.

Who's your landline with? I never had that deal on mine.

I use my SunRocket phone for international--I think their rates to the UK are 3c/min, and you get $3.00 of free international included per month, so that works out to 100 free UK minutes/month. Works out pretty well. :)

Home line is on BT, no idea what plan it is but it's very basic - we don't tend to use the phone much. My mobile is on an Orange business plan because it works out cheaper that way (I have to call people a LOT). Just so happens international calling package is part of the deal :D
