    Stress

Does anyone want a cat? I came out on my porch today, and a cat was sitting there. The neighbor had fed it and it was waiting for her to come back. I didn't think anything of it, until I came back an hour later. It was still there, still waiting, and very obviously friendly. So I sat down and gave it some love, and it was adorable! However, through it's long gray hair, you can very obviously feel bones.

Well, I felt it over. No grubs, lesions, no mange, its not dragging it's ass so no worms, it isnt scratching so possibly no fleas, and i think it's a spayed male because it has no nipples and no balls. However, his ears have all but been chewed off, and he is completely deaf. I clapped my hands together as hard as i could right behind his head, and he didn't even flinch.

He's affectionate, but with caution. If you step out of line he nips - but only nips. And he has to come to you, you can't force him. He seems like if he had a family, he'd turn loving very quick.

Lilly and bryan were nice enough to buy it wet food, and spray flea repellent (so it continues not ot get them) and i left it food, water and a towel... But I can't keep it! And I don't want to invite it in and get it's hopes up when I just CAN'T. It needs a vet and I don't know what to do with it. I want to help it very badly, but my lease says I can only have two and i do.

But the poor baby.. he's deaf and obviously been man handled - but he's so friendly and sweet and needs some loving. If anyone out there can help me, or knows someone who can... Please contact me. I can't afford to take it to either the shelter or the vet... but he seems like he'd be a very loving pet.

wenchie, where are you? i know you're not near me lol, nobody is, but if you give your general location someone maybe able to suggest a no death animal shelter near you. if you're in england go to the PDSA which is free. they can at least check it over for you. god bless you.

there are a few... But I live in central NY state. All the no kill shelters have both a waiting list and a fee... which last I checked was nearing $60.

I can't afford it. :( and he'd be here at least a month waiting and that's not fair. :(

Sure. Just send a bottle of ketchup with it. My dog loves cats. With a side of fries.

From the looks of the poor bastard, he's been "previously enjoyed" by some other dog. He's full on deaf, and his ears are shabby remainders of what used to be.

I really feel sorry for him. I wish I could take him in, but my lease says two is my limit.

how would your land lord find out if you had, say 3 cats? suppose he did find out, couldn't you just say you were watching your "sister's cat" for the week and that the 3rd cat would be gone in a few days?

You must be the only tree-hugger in Northern CA who is not a member of PETA!

Sorry to hear that, Wenchie :(. That's how I ended up with my cat. It was an unwanted kitten, and big bad me, had to take her in, LoL!

I would offer, but ya know I'm over the side of the planet.

Thinking about it, nearly all of my pets have been 'adopted', so to speak.

    Truer words were never spoken...

I wish I had a decent digital camera... posting his picture is a good idea. I left messages on several local forums, and a few people have responded... not that they want him but places I could try to call today for help.

Everything helps. You should come see him, he's friggin adorable. I feel bad leaving him out there, he's deaf ...

and I saw a poisonous snake in my front lawn last night... *shudder* Water moccasons.

I don't think he was a stray though, I think he's an escapee and all of his injurys were deliberate... I mean... his poor little ears. it's an old wound, all healed up. Poor baby.

True. The good news is, like tends to attract like. Once we refine society and throw out the refuse, what's left is small in quantity, but precious. Some of us in this very forum prove that.:)

Wenchie, I have a feeling that you're furry companion won’t be homeless for very long. ;)

    (Water Moccasins...ugh!!)

Poor thing. I hope you find a good place for him. I'm in Mn, so too far away.
I, too, am a sucker for strays. My girls inherited that from me. Last fall, they found a pup running on the road, and of course, picked it up. They found the owner, but he said to take it home. They called me. I told them DON"T bring it home. I knew what would happen if they did. I got home and there he was. Fell in love with his eyes, and the rest is history. We have another dog...

Our cat is also a stray they found alongside the road. He was skin and bones. Now he is a happy, fat (about 15 lbs), fun loving cat.

He either left on his own or someone took him in the night. I went to check on him and the water i left him was gone and most of the dry food... so was he.

If he comes back again, I think i'll bring him in the house. I'll decided what to do after that, I just have to save enough money to take him to the vet... because if he has leukemia or FIV he'll have to get put down so he can't pass it to my other cats. :(

its things like this that make me question my refusal to chase money. i really wish i could send you some, and in this sort of case the thought really doesnt count for much. my prayers for you and for the kitty. hopefully GOD will help where i cant.
