    Thanks guys and gals. :major

I really appreciate your donating your old PC's. As some know I lived and worked in Sierra Leone from '92 to '94 during the Civil War (but before it got really bad).

If you have seen Blood Diamond you will know what I mean.

The people were as poor as church mice then and after the 11 year war it is no better. Even the capital Freetown still does not have a reliable continuous Electricity supply.

Most people (or schools) with PC's, power them by a generator as a friend of mine does.

All PC's donated will be gratefully received in SL, I am sure.

    Thanks again. Bazza

Way better use for the older rigs than a landfill! Good find bb and I hope people around the world will think twice before throwing that 'useless piece of junk' out!

    Thanks again guys.:major

If you leave your name and address on them you might receive a thankyou. Then again you might get begging letters. The choice is yours.

But all thanks for any donation. Even old PC Hardware and old Software would probably be appreciated to keep the old PC's going. Bazza

Up to 117 reads so far. Thanks to all who read this thread. Even greater thanks to the UK folks who donate their old PC's. :major

As you would appreciate freight costs UK--->Sierra Leone are the killer for any private person. I guess the lady organising this has access to container space at little or no cost. :cool

We used to get our supplies, parts, beer, etc., from a mixture of USA, UK and Australian sources so we were spoilt with choices of food, beer, etc.

The SL customs used to make us totally unload the bags of rice containers in front of them in case we had weapons for either side of the Civil War hidden at the back of the 20' and 40' containers.

A real PITA if we had a high priority need for parts, etc., in another container, but we got by. Bazza

Did anyone actually deliver some of their old PC's to the earlier link for on-forwarding to Sierra Leone? Hope so. :D
