    hi,

bit of a wierd problem here,

i have a vivicam digital camera that connects to my pc - well nearly,

i installed the driver but the camera is not detected, on checking in device manager the camera is detected but no driver,

2 hours later i tracked the problem down to avg by uninstalling it and re-installing the driver - all ok but no anti-virus,
re-installed avg and no camera driver

another hour of messing and fixing with no joy so i decided to change my a/v, tried antivir and avast with the same results,

all the anti-virus programs i have tried block stk017m.exe - even spyware terminator picks it up - but this is needed for the camera to run,

so i'm a bit stuck as this doubles up as a webcam,

    any ideas around this problem

    ta

First check where the stk017m.exe is located. Make sure it is in the camera folder where you would expect it to be and not the Windows or Windows\System32 folder, for example.

Where did you get the driver from? A disk or an online download? If the latter, what site? This file is part of an application from CresMonitor, not Vivicam. What is the exact model of your camera and someone should be able to help you locate the correct driver.

    hi,

    thanks for the replys,

the camera is a vivicam 5199 which needs the stk017m.exe to run, when this .exe is running as a process the camera works as it should - the only way this happens is by uninstalling the anti-virus and settings,
    its located in program files/stk017_v2.01/stk017m.exe,
the drivers have been loaded from the vivitar software disk,
the vivitar site does not have the drivers,
searching for stk017 camera drivers leads me to this site

    http://www.stk.com.tw/product-01.asp

i uploaded the .exe to jotti

    Scanner results

i found out how to allow it with avg on a vm with zone alarm to see if it 'calls home' - not a peep,

might risk it on my real machine, with a close eye - after more tests with a vm - and a bit of messing with spyware terminator to allow it as well,

there's another one there as well - stk017k.exe,

nice little camera though, bought from asda - wallmart round your end

oh - the manual is on the disk
