Can’t Access Anything Other Than Bios

    Hi,

I have a friend’s Acer laptop that had a password put on it by a teenager who now cannot remember the password o_O
It has Windows 10. I did a shift restart to enter the UEFI settings. Since then the only screen I can access is the BIOS screen.
I’ve tried changing the boot order to the HDD, I’ve tried setting the defaults but still get the BIOS screen. The HDD is detected.
I’ve also tried Alt F10 to reset to factory settings but it appears to just recognise the F10 key, which just wants to save the BIOS settings.

A bit of research has told me to try to turn off Secure Boot but this isn’t able to be accessed, the cursor will not move down to this section.

Any advice would be truly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Actually on re-reading your thread I would download the Windows 10 installation iso and burn it on to a 4 GB or greater USB. Change the Boot order in the Bios and see if you can boot to it.
Agree to the terms and conditions and it will take you to a screen where repairing the system is an option. Tick that box and click Return/Enter. It might work.
    Good luck,
    s.
