Can a 14-year-old computer geek be the CEO of a startup company?

Why not? Better than smoking cigarettes and acting tough on the street corner, I guess. I had my first patent application at fifteen. Then again, I was a geek before anyone ever heard of the term LOL.

Agreed with Phantom, why not as there are a few startups that had teens in charge, in the tech area one notable was Codemasters which was setup by Richard and David Darling.

Just need a damm good unique idea and your away.

I don't think he could run a company per se, but if he's got a great idea and wants to develop and spread it, there's nothing wrong with that. Hope he does well.

I don't see why not...just because he is young doesn't mean he doesn't have the smarts...or at least the ability to adapt/learn quickly!!

Of course that meant that he lost out on many projects because the law did not allow him to sign a contract. Today as President and CEO he has offices in 11 countries, employing 600 people. Other achievements:

• Recognized as the "World's Youngest Professional Web developer" in 2000 at New York, USA
• Titled "World's Youngest Entrepreneur" by CNBC and e*Business in the year 2002.
• When he was 17 in 2003, recognised as the world's youngest CEO by global media including BBC, Washington Times, Straits-Singapore, Silicon Times, Indian Express, Times of India.
• Recognised at the International Business Awards 2005, New York, USA as one of the finalists of Best International Business Executives.
• Honoured by Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at Islamabad in August 2005.
• Honoured by Rotary Club, Bangalore as one of the World's Youngest and most Innovative Entrepreneur in September 2005.
