Can a 450Watt power supply cope with 4 HDDs?

I recently bought a 320GB WD harddrive. I have 3 more HDDs, one 40GB, one 80, and one 160, a DVD writer, tv tuner, dialup modem, a P4 Titan mobo, and a Radeon 9600 Pro. Can a 450W PSU handle all that?

 

yes you can, but you are right on the edge there the power supply won't last long....

A 600W PSU will be best.....

What brand psu? a cheap 450watt then no. A deacent 450 watt yeah will power it just fine.

 

Full specs: 4HDDs, 1 Hyper-Threading CPU,1 heatsink, 1 HDD cooler, 1 case fan, 1 dialup modem, 1 TV tuner, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (256MB VRAM, 128-bit, 450Mhz CPU), 4 used USB ports, 1 DVD+/-RW.

My recommended minimum wattage came out 370W. Okay that's minimum what about recommended? The PSU is an ATX brand btw. Also, I have an UPS, does that help in any way?

 

The 12Volt supply (yellow cables) from the power unit is likely to be undersized.
12V is mainly used by
ATI card
Hard Drives
DVD/CD drives
Fans

With that lot you might have a large enough case to incorporate a second supply and just use its 12v (molex) outlets. This could be an older one in the 150 -250 W range.

If possible get some separation between the hard drives or fit some forced cooling (fan).

 

Okay I bought a 470W Thermaltake PSU. I'm confident that's the end of my problem.
