Can an admin look at this?

I was about to download a file from here, and I got a warning. Wondered if it was a legitimate warning, or a false positive somehow? Anyway, I blocked it for now.

    Thank You. :major

    Hey Pax

I'm assuming this is the app: http://majorgeeks.com/RRT_Remove_Restrictions_Tool_d5635.html

Judging from the purpose of it, my initial reaction is it's a false positive, but I'll bring it to someone's attention to check out.

In the meantime though, I'm moving this to software as it doesn't belong in the Lounge.

Normal. It is a virus based tool so I would think many would flag it, then again your trusting SiteAdvisor who once blackballed Majorgeeks over ONE file while ignoring hundreds of positives from large websites. :)

    Hi Pax

I have run this through a multi malware scanner in Jotti's and as you may knwo it scans using virus defs from many of the major player in the antivirus business.

I dont see any malware in the file as per the scan data HERE, I can only assume that Site Advisor is wrong and throwing up a false positive, TBH its not accurate at all, suffers from old out of date data and listing to too many of those the submit rouge reports, these reports can be bogus.

Thanks everyone. I trusted the site over the warning, but having nothing to go on, I thought I'd ask about it if for no other reason than to bring it to your attention, (remembering when the site was flagged). As it turns out, I don't think I need the program anyhow, but again, thanks for looking into it for me, or at least offering your opinion on it.

It was flagged up for being compressed using UPX :banghead , I'm sure virus writers also use zips and rars, etc., as well as compressed media files - why doesn't every compressed download get flagged by these money-grabbing berks? There are times when these 'legitimate' companies act no better than the rogue A/V sellers.

HINT to A/V companies: Update your software so it can see 'through' UPX compression, it'll reduce your FP rate and therefore increase YOUR trustworthiness.

SiteAdvisor can be as much as 6 months out of date with their website scans, bear that in mind - if your computer's A/V software was that out of date, would you put any faith in it's results?
