Can any Red Results from a RegSeeker Scan be Safely Deleted?

    Hi everyone,

    I have Windows XP Pro. I run RegSeeker once a day. In the instructions, it mentions not to delete the results that are in red unless you know what you're doing. I've been deleting all the green ones but I have hundreds of red results. A good sampling of the red results are:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    Interface\{ (a long number)}
    Invalid ActiveX/COM entry (CLSID)

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.csv\OpenWithList
    [icon] avg.dat
    Unused "open with" entry

    HKEY_CURRENT_ROOT
    [folder icon] Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.prn
    File type not used

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    [folder icon] VncViewer.Config
    Extension not used

    Most of the red ones are "Invalid ActiveX/COM entry (CLSID)."

    Can any or all of these be deleted?

    Denise

    The safest way to delete the "Red" items is to pick a grouping that you have googled then making certain you have "Backup deleted files" checked then delete a few and see what happens. Back-up your computer first before deleting red items so you have a fall-back position, and I also clear all my "Old" Regseeker back-ups off the back-up files before deleting the red items. You will probably nail one that will cause some problems but it is easy to reinstall the deleted files, should maybe try restoring some deleted "Green" ones first so you feel confident. Hope that Helps
