Well off the top, ordering from a major retail store will buy you LESS video card. I would reccommend that you somehow get someone to order a video card for you from http://newegg.com.

But, if there is no way for you to do this, as a last resort you can find a half way decent video card here Comp USA GeForce 6200

As far as Circuit City... I wouldnt buy fishing line from them :)

Newegg currently has a GeForce 6600GT at $162.00 USD. There is a $20.00 Mail-in rebate, so the final price is actually $142.00 :) (Gotta Love Newegg)

Im not sure if your into gaming or you just want a somewhat uber leet video card for applications. If your into gaming, this is a start, but eventually I'd look for an even better card when the funds are right.

Here is the link from Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150099

Like Viper_boy403 asked, is this an AGP or PCI-e card that you need. Also, will you need a card with a DVI connector or Standard VGA?

    Details....Details... Details :)

If you are PCI-e, I recently got a X700 that I am pretty happy with, its a fairly cheap, midrange card comparable to the 6600GT. Its a great card, only $120, has 8 pipelines and 256mb of memory.

I tried to find a benchmark, but they usually have the X700 Pro 128mb edition included, and not an X700 256mb.

Anyways, it may even be cheaper at this point, and I highly recommend newegg as they have great deals and cheap shipping.

From memory, the X700 doesn't support Shader Model 3.0, only Shader Model 2.0?

The 6600GT on the other hand does.

Post your system specs and someone will recommend a card.

Better still, use EVEREST and post the log as an attachment. (don't copy and paste it, only attach)

By the way, that crappy Nvidia MX440 that you have is a PCI-e card and has a standard VGA connector so the one that I recommended will not do.

I was able to find this one as an alternative:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141015 weighing in at measly $145.00

Looking at the difference of what you have and the card 6600GT, that would be comparable to a Model-T Ford and a Ford GT :)

**** Just if your wondering, the other connector on the video card is called an S-Video connector**** :)

Pci and agp are how the video card is connected to your motherboard. Older cards like yours are prbably agp. New cards now are pci-e (pci express).
