can connect with lan, but not wireless

ok so i have a problem now.

I recently came to these forums to help me get rid of some viruses, and i feel like my router has been hijacked.

symptoms:
1.once i cleaned my computer, i get a new connection, unsecured, pop up in my preferred networks list. the name is intartubes! and i have no idea where i came from.

2. I have attempted 2 different wireless cards and though they can see my router, everytime i try to connect it says the router is "out of range". I can still attempt to connect to my neighbors wireless but it wont even let me get to my own passkey before telling me i can't connect.

please help me i have no idea what is goin on and this is my gf's computer. She'd kill me if i ruined the network.:yum
