I have 2 soundcards installed which i use when I want to video record my desktop along with audio from Skype etc.

With 2 soundcards there are therefore 4 volume control displays available - 2 playback and 2 recording.

I can set these up as I like to record ok, but the settings tend to get messed up quite frequently when i open other programs. Even when i open skype it messes up the settings.

Although these can be restored by going into each display in turn via the speaker icon in the toolbar, it is a clumsy and slow way to do it.

I would like to find a way of doing this quicker. I am thinking of something like a shortcut which will open all 4 displays at once , or better still a one-click command that will just reset all volume settings to my default.

I don't know how to go about this though and would appreciate some guidance.

Right - I'll partially answer my own question in case someone else finds it useful!

Shortcuts can be created for each volume control using the following in the target boxes:

    %windir%\sndvol32.exe (primary soundcard playback)
    %windir%\sndvol32.exe /r (primary soundcard recording)
    %windir%\sndvol32.exe /d1 (secondary soundcard playback)
    %windir%\sndvol32.exe /d1 /r (secondary soundcard recording) etc.
