Can I kill spyware offline?

Hi,
Following advice from another forum I think my laptop's got spyware problems.
I've looked over the tutorial page on this site which describes how to deal with this problem and I'm prepared to follow it to the letter.
The advice appears to have been written for someone who can go online.
My problem is the only way I can go online is by networking to another computer. If I have spyware or virus problems will I spread them by networking to other computers?
I was wondering if alternatively I could download all the programs I need onto a CD ROM in an Internet cafe and then run them all on my computer offline. Is it possible?

There is a risk of spreading depending on how the computers are shared. I am unclear how you connect, so can not say for sure. If your simply using Internet Connection Sharing via a router, just be sure file and print sharing are not enabled (they are by default in XP Pro) and that your not sharing drives between computers. In other words, if your simply sharing internet and the computers are not networked together for data sharing, etc., there will be np problem.

Yes, you can do it all offline, yes you can burn them to CD. My suggestion if you are unsure, at this point, would be to play it safe, get the CDROM with the tools and do it all offline, skipping the online anti-virus scans, BUT if you have your own virus program, doa complete scan from safe mode with it.
